Stephanie’s Story

Hi! My name is Stephanie Mitchell and I am thrilled at the possibility of working with you on your health, fitness and wellness goals.

Truth is, I love to workout and I like to have a goal myself to work towards in order to stay motivated. Each year, I choose a few running races or maybe even a little triathlon to work towards so I can stay focused on being fit because it is important to me.

On the flip side, I want you to know that while health and wellness in an important part of my life, I am by no means perfect. Happily, I confess my love of pizza, Taco Bell and beer. Yes, good nutrition is important, but I believe all things are good in moderation.

This rockin’ journey into the health field began upon graduating from East Carolina University in 1997 with a degree in Health Education (Worksite Health Promotion). I held jobs at Corporate Fitness Works, Inova Health System and was very fortunate to manage the employee wellness program for Arlington County Government. While working for the county, I worked towards and graduated with a degree from Marymount University in Health Promotion Management.

In 2007, when my son was a year old, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom for a few years. It was a wonderful time at home with both Ian and Addison. Once my daughter began kindergarten, I made the decision to go back to work and ultimately begin my own business. Thus, in 2013, Stephanie Mitchell Fitness was created.

SMF offers personal training for women. I was fortunate to grow this business for several years and have loved all my clients.

In 2018, I shut the business down in effort to slow life down and focus on self care. It was a smart decision to have some downtime in order to reflect on some personal and professional goals. I realized my main objective for my work and how I like to show up in life is to help women feel good from the inside out.

My passion is helping women feel like they are enough as they are in that moment. I love to help build confidence and inner strength. Personal training is the modality in which I can connect with my clients and help women feel strong.

Learning is one of my favorite pastimes. I love to learn in order to share helpful information to clients and friends. Reading (self help/discovery books) has become one my most favorite hobbies.

Participating in classes that focus on mindfulness and personal development are important to me. Additionally, running and participating in triathlons is another fun hobby that challenges me on a physical, mental and emotional level.

I look forward to 2020 as I will complete my Chopra Center Meditation Teacher certification in May. Additionally, by the end summer, I will have a Yin Yoga Certification. These two certifications will afford me the opportunity to share meditation and yoga with my clients. I am so excited to work with you and help you achieve your wellness goals.
