Let's Get Feisty

For you, my fabulous female friends, this week I have a call to action. This week, I want you to practice showing up feisty—lively, determined, courageous. 

So, what does feisty look like? Maybe it’s rocking out to “All the Single Ladies” while you prep yourself for a big Zoom presentation for work. Maybe it’s waking up a half-hour earlier so you can gift yourself time for meditation. Maybe it’s racing your kids around the local track and not letting them win!

Feisty is finding joy in life’s offerings, standing up to the daily challenges you face, and owning the confidence that is present at your core.

For me, that feeling of feistiness comes from many places, and in truth, all of them are rooted in strength and mindfulness.

I feel feisty when during a strength training program, I find myself lifting more than I thought I could. I had good form and felt great, and it boosted my confidence.

I have felt feisty when I finish a long run or swim past my distance goal. I feel empowered by my determination.

I also feel feisty when, after meditating, I am inspired by new ideas. My mind and body are still, and the space that I’ve created allows for my inner strength to speak to me. During some of these moments, I have been inspired to quit drinking, eat better, and even start a new hobby. 

What I want to convey is that when we work on strength (inside and out), and we practice mindfulness and meditation, we then feel confident to take what we learn and practice into other areas of our lives and have the courage to act and work towards our goals.

That, my friends, is showing up feisty.

I want you to know that you are lively, you are determined, and you are courageous for taking part in showing up for your health and wellness. If life and time permit, write a note to yourself thanking yourself for showing up feisty.

Finishing 2019 Augusta 70.3. It was a hot day and I wanted to throw in the towel. Had to dig deep for this one!

James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, writes that “All big things come from small beginnings.”

I encourage you to pick one or two concrete things that you can practice in the coming week that help you tap into that inner strength.

Because, Feisty Ladies, it is there, that core of confidence and determination, I am sure of it! You only need take steps on the path to discover it!
