Friday, the 13th-A Whole New Meaning

Last year, on Friday, March 13th, my kids left school with all their things (well most of them…more on that in a bit.)

After that last day of in-person school, our family had an outdoor dinner with some friends, we packed up our things and headed to the beach for a few weeks.

Never in our wildest dreams, did we imagine the kids being out of school for so long, doing most things virtually, and not able to hug friends and family. It was impossible to comprehend the sheer uncertainty life presented. There were so many unknowns for quite some time.

Today, it is exactly a year later and I have to say it feels nice to be where we are today. Things are beginning to reopen a little more, we collectively feel a little lighter, the kids have started to go back to school in our area, there is a vaccine (bless the hearts of those who created this vaccine).

Friday, the 13th was always the day that was supposed to be haunted and kind of spooky. Maybe we experienced bad luck. I remember it always being a day you went through with caution.

Looking back, my new view of this day is one of growth and change.
