Make Yourself a Priority with Attainable Goals
When I initially meet with my clients, many share that they want to gain muscle, lose weight, eat better or workout more. These are all great goals but they are focused more on outcomes versus actions.
When you are creating goals for yourself, think about creating goals that are Sustainable, Measurable, and Feasible as these are more behavior based.
Sustainable - ability to maintain or support the process continuously over time.
Measurable - described in specific terms, size, or duration amounts.
Feasible - possible to do easily or conveniently.
As a result, you’ll be more likely to achieve your goals and feel a greater sense of pride and satisfaction along the way.
If a goal for you is to lose weight, great. How will you achieve that goal?
A behavior based goal may look like:
I will run 30 minutes three times a week.
I will eat a protein and vegetable at each meal.
I will consume less liquid calories.
When you go back and review your goals you can ask yourself if these are sustainable, measurable and feasible in your life at this moment? if not, you may need to adjust.
As you either embark on your health and fitness journey, or are making a comeback after some time off, make sure you know what goals you are working towards. Set yourself up for success.
When you know exactly what you’re doing and why, you’ll feel more decisive about the efforts you commit to.
